In Quality Assurance, attention to detail is everything. Discover how Collins transitioned from Data Researcher to QA Specialist at eCore, how he turns feedback into learning opportunities, and why supporting others is the true secret to organizational growth.

Eye for Detail and the Spirit of Harambee

A Lesson in Resilience

QA Specialist, Community Leader, Manchester United Loyalist, Traveler at Heart. Collins’s personality shines through his profound resilience. His loyalty doesn’t waver when times get hard; he stays steadfast through highs and lows, offering steady encouragement and reliability to everyone around him.

Collins is a die-hard Manchester United fan, sticking by his team through every good season and every tough one. He credits his fandom with teaching him one of life's most valuable lessons: patience, resilience, and always staying loyal to the process.

Collins's deep resilience stems from his rich cultural background; he wholeheartedly embraces the spirit of Harambee, a Swahili concept that translates to “let’s pull together” and emphasizes collective effort and teamwork. People like Collins teach us that together we are far more powerful, proving that mutual support helps us reach our shared goals faster, stronger, and with greater purpose.

From Researching Data to Questioning It

Collins began his journey at eCore five years ago as a Data Researcher. Demonstrating a strong eye for accuracy, he moved into Quality Assurance. In QA, attention to detail is everything. What Collins catches directly impacts the quality of deliverables going out to clients.

Describing his career progression, Collins reflects on his transition "from finding data to questioning it and catching what was missed." He finds profound professional satisfaction in ensuring that final deliverables are completely error-free. Rather than adopting a purely critical approach when reviewing others' work, Collins emphasizes the vital importance of empathy. He shares clear, actionable guidance with team members to help them elevate and perfect their work. For Collins, constructive support, rather than simple criticism, reflects the kind of mentorship he valued when he was starting out.

When asked what it feels like to catch and correct subtle errors, Collins explains that the most rewarding part of the job goes far beyond finding mistakes. He finds genuine fulfillment in spotting repetitive error patterns, giving researchers targeted feedback and actionable tips, and watching team members build confidence and improve over time.

A major turning point in his professional development came when his QA Team Lead introduced him to a structured, step-by-step QA strategy. This methodology brought much-needed clarity, consistency, and structure to his daily workflow, ultimately becoming the analytical framework he relies on today. This systematic approach keeps him open-minded and adaptable when he encounters new, highly complex, or unfamiliar projects. Collins firmly believes that when you eliminate fear and approach challenges methodically, you can break down even the most daunting tasks step by step until they become manageable.

Harambee in Action: Community & School Upgrade

Collins serves as a dedicated board member for his former elementary school, returning to support the community where his educational journey began. Recognizing that the students needed better nutrition and a food program to thrive, he stepped up to lead a transformative initiative. Embracing his strong community values, he rallied local community members, organized volunteers, and gathered essential resources, working alongside skilled local labor to renovate and upgrade the school kitchen.

Now operational through Harambee's collaborative spirit, the upgraded kitchen serves as a vital cornerstone for the school, ensuring children consistently receive wholesome meals. This initiative has profoundly impacted students, leaving them happier, healthier, and better focused on their learning and growth.

Collins’s proactive, solution-oriented approach demonstrates the exact qualities that make him such an invaluable team member. Beyond his practical problem-solving skills, he brings a deeply empathetic, resilient mindset. This unique combination makes him a reliable anchor in every community and team he joins.

Beyond eCore: Dreams of Rome and Kenyan Chai

Outside of his professional work and technical responsibilities at eCore, Collins deeply values quality time, intentional rest, and authentic human connection. For Collins, true work-life balance comes from meaningful downtime, whether that means creating lasting memories with his young son, exploring and enjoying rich local foods, or unwinding with his favorite music playlists. One of his favorite personal traditions is gathering with close friends over steaming, freshly brewed cups of traditional Kenyan Chai, where conversations flow freely, and community bonds are constantly strengthened. These quiet, cherished moments represent the genuine highlights of his personal life.

Beyond his love for local culture, Collins has a lifelong passion for culinary arts fostered by international cooking shows. This global fascination has inspired a dream to visit Italy, specifically Rome, to explore its historic architecture, rich culture, and authentic cuisine firsthand.

Words of Wisdom for the Team

Reflecting on his journey from Data Researcher to a seasoned Quality Assurance Specialist, Collins offers valuable advice to new members joining the eCore community:

"Keep a positive attitude toward work and be eager to learn quickly. Don’t guess - ask early to remove doubt and avoid repeating mistakes. Always treat feedback as a learning opportunity, and never take it personally."

Collins's insights underscore the foundational values of the eCore environment. By replacing hesitation with proactive curiosity, team members can streamline their work and eliminate guesswork. Furthermore, viewing constructive feedback as a tool for personal development rather than personal criticism aligns directly with the collaborative spirit of Harambee that Collins demonstrates every day.

I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to Collins’s story. Hearing his perspective, I realized that our greatest professional fulfillment and biggest organizational growth come from supporting others and watching them thrive. It is truly the most satisfying part of our shared workplace culture.
